Marshfield Area Community Foundation: Dog Park

I know people usually say there are two types of people – Ford or Chevy. I believe there are two kinds of people – dog or cat. I am a dog person. I have two hairy golden retrievers that are part of my family.

All dogs need exercise. This space allows for all dogs who are on leashes, current on their vaccines, and friendly with other dogs a place to run and play fetch with lots of room. They’re able to burn off their extra energy and socialize.

A group of dog lovers recognized this need in our community. They established a fund at the Marshfield Area Community Foundation for this project. Other community members donated money toward the project, which was dedicated October 29, 2009.

The 4.5 acre site sits at the corner of Peach Ave. and 21st Street by the Fairgrounds. The fund has been able to pay for fencing, lighting, signage – all the things the park needs to make a wonderful place for dogs.

The Paws ‘n Play Dog Park is another addition to MACF’s long list of contributions to the community, which include Wildwood Station, Everett Roehl Marshfield Public Library, Hackman Field, the Youth Baseball fields, Weber Park, Hamus Park, Hardacre Park, Braem Park Disk Golf, the Skate Park, Tiny Tiger Intergenerational Center, the ACE Academy, Griese Park, and many, many more.

A tax exempt, non-profit organization, MACF uses public support to better connect those with a cause in mind to its completion while taking care of administrative tasks, and continues to establish permanent, named funds for public benefit.
