Volunteers Needed to Help Clean Up the Downtown This Saturday
In honor of Earth Day this Saturday, Main Street Marshfield is hosting a “Downtown Cleanup” event.
“We will be cleaning up the downtown area, and if we have enough people, we will do some of the City Parks as well,” said Main Street Marshfield Executive Director Angie Eloranta. “After the snow melts, it’s amazing how much garbage is discovered! It is important to do these clean-ups so the litter doesn’t accumulate any more than it already has.”
Clean up tasks include picking up litter and doing a thorough sweep of back parking lots, alleyways, and Marshfield Parks.Everyone is welcome and encouraged to participate.
“Bring your kids, friends, siblings, parents, whoever!” said Eloranta. “I strongly encourage people to bring their kids with to this event. It will instill a fresh perspective on throwing your trash in the proper trash and recycling bins and deter them from being future litterers!”
She added that this event is an eye opening experience to all people who volunteer.
“After spending a couple of hours cleaning up other people’s trash, you will become a strong advocate against littering!” she said. “No one wants to live in a dirty, littered city.”
Eloranta wishes to thank the Marshfield Parks and Recreation Department for assisting with supplies for the day’s event.
