An Evening Of Celebration For Main Street Marshfield
Main Street Marshfield (MSM) saluted volunteers, board members, and business owners at their October 12 event. The Board of Directors and Staff recognized new businesses, long-standing businesses, and standout businesses! The Board also made sure to recognize the core people working behind the scenes at MSM: their volunteers.
A few standouts in the evening included Lois and Gary TeStrake being appointed as the 2016 Parade Marshals. Lois has been on the MSM Board for 17 years and just recently decided to step down. Baltus Oil Company was also recognized for their Outstanding Business Renovation this past year. The company took advantage of the Façade Improvement Grant program that MSM and the Economic Development Board offer. Baltus received $40k in matching grant funds, but their total investment came in above 200k. There was a total of 10 downtown businesses who received matching grant funds via the Façade Program this past year.
“It was a fun evening to celebrate downtown and all the people involved in making this a great place to be” stated Angie Eloranta, MSM Executive Director. “While everyone is invited to come to this celebration, we strongly encouraged our new businesses to attend. We wanted to thank them for choosing Marshfield and give them the opportunity to see all the great things we are working on and how they can be a part of it”.
This past year, 10 new businesses opened downtown.
MSM is a volunteer-driven, preservation-based economic development program and part of a national network of communities. The Board is made up of thirteen members, with a majority of them being downtown business owners. The Board is always looking for more people to get involved and encourages anyone who is interested to contact their office.
