High Street Travel Provides Gateway to Warm Climates This Winter
As the temperature plummets, many Wisconsinites seek respite through a trip to someplace warm.
With all the travel sites online, there are many options for finding accommodations for a trip. Sometimes it can be overwhelming deciding where to start or how to find the best price or choice.
One option is to reach out to a local travel agency, which provides experience and knowledge to alleviate some of the planning challenges.
Diane Meissner, owner of the local High Street Travel, said some of the advantages of using a travel agency such as hers is “my personal service, experience, knowledge of destinations, and ability within my network to find out most of the answers you are seeking.”
High Street Travel is a one-person office that is part of a larger travel network. The travel agency offers most travel services including air, vacation packages, river and ocean cruises and escorted tours.
While, as snow and ice fall, many people do think of travel, Meissner said, “Anytime is a good time to start planning a trip.”
Those that are digging around in drawers finding passports and dusting off their luggage are often thinking of warmer destinations this time of year, especially in Wisconsin.
“If you are from a cold weather part of the country, anything tropical and warm is a sure bet. Mexico, Caribbean and the Southern US are the destinations most requested for this time of year,” she said.
But, if a would-be traveler is looking for a good deal, and is willing to pack a jacket, there are other options.
“Europe is very reasonable during our winter months,” Meissner said.
As a seasoned professional, Meissner offers a few travel tips
- For international travel, check to make sure passports are current and do not expire
within 6 months of planned travel dates.
- For special travel times such as over the holidays and spring break, plan early for best pricing and availability.
- Always pack light and bring a scarf…it serves a lot of purposes.
- Be at the airport in plenty of time to get through long security lines.
- Don’t forget about Transportation Security (TSA) rules pertaining to liquids/gels and other items.
Overall, Meissner is excited about what the new year has to offer.
“Every new year is a new opportunity…to travel or do something special for someone else,” she said.
