On Saturday, July 27th, the sun was shining brightly and so were some amazing performers of all ages during the Central Wisconsin’s Got Talent competition portion of Hub City Days in Marshfield. There were acts from Spencer, Rib Lake, Stevens Point, Pittsville, Colby, Stratford, Loyal, Hewitt and of course a few from Marshfield.
Vocal music seemed to be the popular talent this year but there was also a dance number that won the audience’s and the judges’ hearts. Taking first place in the event overall was 7 year old Brandi Becker of Pittsville with her mesmerizing routine to “Paralyzed.” Taking second place overall was Emma Dorshorst, a 16 yr old high school student of MHS, for sharing a lovely rendition of “Oh Mio Babbino Caro” by Puccini.
After some deliberation by the judges — Joelle Clark (Spencer), Joe Anderson (Loyal) and Mika Brunson (Marshfield), a 17-yr-old from Stevens Point, Lydia Kildahl, was chosen to advance to the state teen talent competition which takes place this weekend in Milwaukee. She accompanied herself on guitar as she sang “Black Roses,” a song known from the former television show Nashville.
Thank you to Lonie G for providing sound technician and emcee services.
And a huge thank you to our generous sponsors this year: Rembs Funeral Home and Crematory (gold level); and Merle Norman & The Day Spa Boutique as well as Northern Music Service (bronze level). Without their generosity this event could not take place.
Be on the lookout in the spring for details about next year’s competition.
