Registration begins Monday, June 5
Program ends Saturday, July 29, 2017

Combined Reading goal for 2017 is 11,000 hours

Build a Better World Registration.
Monday, June 5, Open House from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Find your way to the library for the opening “construction” and see what the Summer Library Program is all about and why YOU want to register for the Build a Better World Library Program. Register for the program and spend the morning building with a variety of fun materials.

Tail Waggin’ Tutors!!!
Tail Waggin’ Tutors are back again this year. Therapy dogs are looking for children to read to them. Various dates and times are available. Registration begins June 5, 2017. Sign up for a 10-minute session by contacting the library at 715-387-8494 ext. 2764.

Construction Site @ the Library
Tuesday, June 13, 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. & Wednesday, June 14, 2:00 – 3:00 p.m.
The Adler Program Room will be turned into a construction site. You will be building with LEGOs, Duplo blocks, Mega blocks, wooden planks, tinker toys, and plastic straws. For children ages 5 and up. No registration required.

LEGO Program
Tuesday, June 20, 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.
Come and build a cool LEGO creation. The rule of the game is to use your imagination. Marshfield Public Library will provide the LEGOs. Please leave your LEGOs at home. For ages 5 and up. No registration required.

Blanket Making @ the Library
Friday, June 23, 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.
We will be tying quilts to donate to Marshfield area agencies and to Project Linus. Project Linus provides homemade security blankets to children who are in need, medical distress, or facing trauma. Join us to make a difference and help someone else.
For youth ages 12 and up.

Musical Puppet Show with Christ Lutheran Puppeteers
Tuesday, June 27, 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.
Christ Lutheran Puppeteers will entertain you as their puppets
sing and dance to the beat of the music. They will perform several
vignettes for your enjoyment. Join us for a fun evening. For children
ages 4 and up.

Building with Boxes
Wednesday, June 28, 6:00 -7:30 p.m. & Thursday, June 29, 2:00 -3:30 p.m.
Come and help the build a city out of boxes. You will be given boxes in different sizes to construct houses, businesses, skyscrapers, etc. The library will supply the materials and you supply the imagination. This program is for families of all sizes. Older family members help younger family members. You can construct a building by yourself, or it can be a team effort. When you are finished “constructing” your buildings they will be put on display in the library until the end of July. No registration required.

Movie Matinee Special
Tuesday, July 11, 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.
The library will show a fun movie in the J. P. Adler Room. Bring a friend, a pillow, your favorite snack and climb on board the “Movie Matinee Special.” Join us for an adventure of the FUN kind!!! Half Twisted-Half Knot Balloon Program
Saturday, July 15, 11:00 a.m. & 12:30 p.m.
This program is a blend of balloon magic and comedy combined with interactive balloon twisting. The show will keep the audience guessing and laughing. Free tickets are available at the library starting July 8, 2017. Please plan on attending one of the performances, not both. For ages 4 and up.

Tuesday, July 18, 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.

The Ribbles Build a Residence
Thursday, July 27, 11:00 a.m. & 1:00 p.m.
Mr. and Mrs. Ribble are expecting a baby Ribblet and they need a new home. By playing interactive games and discovering basic techniques of building the audience will help draw a ground plan and assist the Ribbles in building a new home. Free tickets are available at the library starting July 20, 2017. Please plan on attending one of the performances, not both. For ages 4 and up.

READING PROGRAMS

Read-to-Me Club
Reading program for pre-readers. Children participate with family members or friends, recording the amount of time that is read to them. The goal is 600 minutes of reading time for each child. Participants turn in completed cards, each worth 120 minutes, at the Reference Center for small prizes. Reading time beyond 600 minutes is recorded on bonus cards. The deadline for turning in reading cards will be Saturday, July 29th by 5 p.m.

Reading Club
This reading program is for children and young adults thru age 17. Participants record the amount of time they read on reading cards. The goal is at least 600 minutes for each person. Participants turn in completed cards, each worth 120 minutes, at the Reference Center for small prizes. Those 12 -17 may enter their names in a drawing for a chance to win bigger prizes. Reading time beyond 600 minutes is recorded on bonus cards. The deadline for turning in cards is Saturday, July 29th by 5 p.m.

Every effort is made to ensure that there are enough coupons and incentives for each child that finishes the Summer Reading Program, but at times that may not be possible.
