Just for Kids Theatre Offered at UW

Explore – Youth ages 7-12 are invited to being part of a fun, one-week intensive drama camp featuring the original musical adaptation of “Tom Sawyer.” Children will be introduced to all the magic of theatre including following stage directions, acting, make-up, set design, props and everything that goes on behind-the scenes in order to put on a show!

The program is led by two professional actors/directors of the touring theatre company, Prairie Fire Children’s Theatre, and will conclude with two performances open to the public on May 24 and 25.

More than 80 local youth are needed to play the roles of Tom Sawyer, Huck Finn, Becky Thatcher, Cousin Hildegarde, Cousin Sid, Susie Harper, Mrs. Thatcher, Mrs. Harper, the Townies, the River Rats, the Ghouls and the bats.

The fun starts with auditions held on Monday, May 20 from 4 – 6 p.m. with practice for some from 6 – 8:15 p.m. Rehearsals are scheduled for May 21 – 23, 3:30 – 7:45 p.m. and May 24, 3:30 up until the time of the performance.
