Coffee with a Cop Becomes Ice Cream with a Cop
With several ice cream shops in the area, the Marshfield Police Department is providing the opportunity for anyone to drop by and say hello.
“The goal is to have an event each month, June, July, August and maybe even September, at different locations,” said Police Chief Rick Gramza. “It’s an opportunity to connect with the community to just talk about current events or the PD, road construction, or favorite donuts.”
Having ice cream instead of coffee opens up the event to kids as well, something perfect for the summer. “I think almost everybody likes ice cream,” said Gramza.
The gatherings are a way for local officers to be seen in a casual setting – and for the community to meet the people who protect them everyday. “We are just trying to look for a different way to connect with the community – to get out there, be seen, and not be so scary,” explained Gramza.
The first Ice Cream with a Cop event will be this Thursday, June 28, 2-4 p.m. The detective bureau will be at the event. Culver’s is offering a 1-scoop dish or cone for free during that time to anyone who comes down.
