Explore Marshfield – Flag Retirement Program

The fireworks have long since faded and the brats consumed are well digested by this time of year, as the July 4th holiday becomes another summer memory. Though the American flag can be found proudly waving during all four seasons, it is during this time of year that worn, faded, and torn American flags become most evident.

With the mission of helping to retire Old Glory in a respectful way, Advanced Disposal has launched its second annual Flag Retirement Program- a free service for the community to properly dispose of old American flags. Last year, the company collected more than 2,500 flags, with the largest being more than 600 feet long.

Between now and September 11, all 226 Advanced Disposal locations will collect old American flags and have them property retired in accordance with the United States Flag Code or recycled into new American flags.
