Firehouse Ceramics a Unique Experience in Former Fire Department Building

All Welcome to Create at Firehouse Ceramics

Located in the historic Marshfield Fire Department, Firehouse Ceramics offers a unique experience for a creative mind, where the doors are open for work and play. As the name suggests, anything ceramic can be found within the walls of this memorable building.

After getting started in 1990 as an organization for adults with intellectual disabilities, Innovated Services Inc. (ISI) purchased the program in 2012 stated Dean Bluhm, ISI Program Manager.

“The original concept began to provide adults with vocational training, support and real experience in and with the community. We provide the community with a spacious and inviting venue to express their creative side while providing as much or as little support needed,” he said.

Firehouse Ceramics provides over 10,000 molds, quality ceramic green-ware, ready to paint bisque and finished ceramic gift ware. For those who work with clay at home, they have kiln firing services available to finish those pieces.

In addition to ceramics, a variety of other offerings exist.

“Not only does Firehouse Ceramics provide a full service ceramic shop, open to the public, we also make promotional photo pins, magnets and key chains. We make ‘Cardiac Therapy Pillows’ for St. Joseph’s Hospital and we provide volunteer hours and services for the betterment of our community. We have an efficient and effective enclave crew with provides the community with moving, cleaning and yard work services,” said Bluhm. “All of this is done to a high standard of quality, and we would have it no other way.”

Bluhm added that Firehouse Ceramics is user friendly and provides an enjoyable experience. Visitors can come on their own or with a group. Personalized paint groups can be scheduled for birthday parties, 4-H groups, school activities, Boy and Girl Scouts, and other team building organizations.
