Farmer’s Markets in Marshfield – A Comparison

Farmer’s Markets in Marshfield

One of the best parts of summer is the beautiful, fresh produce you can put on your table for your family.

Some of us are wonderful green thumbs and can pluck those gems from our own gardens. But, others… like myself…have zero abilities to keep plant life alive. Or, want to find some produce that they don’t have in their own gardens.

The best way to find this fresh produce is, of course, to visit one of the local farmers’ markets or fresh fruit and veggie stands.

In town, we are lucky to have two great options for farmers’ markets.

Main Street’s Farmers’ Market is located at Pick N Save, in the 600 block of Central Avenue. This year, Main Street is making it even easier to get your local produce in a convenient time for you and your family…whether you prefer to shop during the day or in the evening after work.

They are featuring a Morning Farmers’ Market Every Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. (June 7th through September 27) and an Evening Farmers’ Market every Third Thursday from 2 to 7 p.m. (June to September).

The Evening Farmers’ Market will even feature cooking demonstrations to show you how to capitalize on the fresh flavors and create scrumptious summer delights.

In addition to the Main Street Farmers’ Market options, there is also a weekend Farmers’ Market that is hosted 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays at the end of the Festival Foods parking lot, 1613 N. Central Avenue.

Obviously, the fact that this Farmers’ Market is located on the weekend is very convenient for families that are already out doing their errands and grocery store on the weekend.

Both Farmers’ Markets offer comparable items both featuring a lot of the same produce such as tomatoes, cucumbers, corn, etc. Also, both offer some really awesome opportunities to buy inexpensive, large floral arrangements. (Hint: if there are any dads reading this, buying a beautiful bouquet of flowers to surprise Mom on a Saturday morning does wonders for the whole weekend!)

The Festival Farmers’ Market seems to have a little bit more to offer in vendors selling some homemade type crafts and seems to have a few more vendors overall.

However, I think the biggest deciding factor on which market to visit is which one is open at the time that is most convenient for you. If you have mornings or evenings free on the correct days, head over to the Main Street Market. If you need to get it done over the weekend, check out the one at Festival.

Hopefully, you are able to visit both and help keep both options going in Marshfield for years to come!
