Cranberry Bike Tour to Benefit Ronald McDonald House

Cranberry Century Bike Tour Benefits Local Charity

As the fall colors begin to emerge, cyclists have the opportunity to enjoy those colors for a good cause. The annual Cranberry Century Bike Tour will take place on Sunday, September 18th. Now in its 20th year, the Tour benefits Ronald McDonald House Charities of Marshfield, an organization dedicated to providing families comfortable accommodations during their child’s hospital stay or treatment.

Featuring four (20, 40, 64 or 100 mile) route selections, the $25 registration fee includes a t-shirt, lunch, cookies and cranberry coffee cake. Also, thanks to The Sports Den of Marshfield, participants will have access to well-marked biking routes and a sag wagon and rest stops along each route.

“Proceeds from the event directly support families by providing a ‘home away from home’ to pediatric patients while they are undergoing medical treatment and hospitalizations at Ministry Saint Joseph’s Children’s Hospital and Marshfield Clinic,” said Iilee Pederson, Executive Director.

Since opening its doors in 1983, the Ronald McDonald House in Marshfield has provided more than 11,000 stays to families from hundreds of Wisconsin communities and throughout the United States.

“Last year we provided nearly 400 family stays,” said Pederson. “We offer a place to call home at little or no cost, with no family turned away due to inability to pay, so families can stay together.”

More than just a place to stay, the House offers families a dinner every evening, comfortable community spaces, and a team of volunteers and dedicated staff always ready to do whatever it takes to make a family’s stay (whether it be days, month or a year) a little easier.

“Our goal is to keep families with sick children close to each other and the care and resources they need,” said Pederson.
