Choosing Marshfield's Best Cheese Curd
Whether you’re new to the cheese curd game or a proud Curd Nerd, Marshfield has some great cheese curd options. In the heart of the Dairy State, cheese curds are serious business and everyone’s a critic. We visited popular spots in the city to sample their curd selection, to determine who serves the best cheese curds in Marshfield. Our favorites are highlighted below, but we want to hear your word on the curd (you can stop us if these jokes are getting too cheesy) - add your thoughts and photos in the comments
Marshfield, WI 54449
Monday-Saturday 6am-9pm
Sunday 6am-2pm

Libby McNeill’s, located within Hotel Marshfield, pays tribute to former Chicago-based McNeill & Libby pickling plant, which had building plants throughout the Midwest - including one built in Marshfield in 1905. The restaurant has a classy upscale feel. Fun features include live music on Wednesday nights, comfortable private booths as an optional eating area, and a cozy fireplace. Served on a long plate with a side dish of ranch dressing, the cheese curds at Libby’s are elegant. Less excessively greasy than their contemporaries and clearly made from real cheese, these curds also boast a unique salty spice flavor unlike any other curds in town. These could be the best cheese curds in Marshfield.
Nutz Deep II
Marshfield, WI 54449

Nutz Deep II is the go-to hotspot in Marshfield on days that end in “y”. At any given time, the bar and restaurant is full of happy and hungry patrons young and old. Though the least expensive of the cheese curd options that we sampled, these curds are pretty much your standard bar appetizer cheese curd. Sample them on Nutz’s famous cheese curd burger, though, and we will need to have a whole different discussion! While delicious in their own right, the cheese curds here are better when paired with a cold beer and a hearty burger. You won’t leave hungry.
Monday-Friday 10:30am to 10pm
Saturday 6:30am to 10pm
Sunday 6:30am to 8pm

Located in the Woodfield Inn & Suites on North Central Avenue, Lumberyard Bar & Grill pays homage to Marshfield’s logging past, showcasing this rich history with images and memorabilia from the period. The bar and grill features quality food and a wide variety of drink options including tap and Wisconsin craft beers. Served in a little basket with checkered paper with a side of ranch dressing, the cheese curd presentation here is by far the cutest and the waitstaff is consistently friendly and attentive. Enjoy these curds while watching Sunday’s football game on one of their many big-screen televisions. The portion size leaves extra room for beer, but that’s not always a bad thing.
