Explore Marshfield – Oktoberfest at Brew Pub
Achtung!
“Willkommen!” one and all to Blue Heron Brew Pub’s annual Oktoberfest celebration, this year taking place on Saturday, September 10, 2016.
Designed as a fun family-friendly community event for people to enjoy and celebrate the German culture, Oktoberfest was first celebrated at the Brew Pub in 2005, the first year the restaurant was open. Three years ago, however, the event was overhauled to become the festive celebration it is today.
“This year, people can expect live music all day, amazing German-style food specials, a special beer release, indoor & outdoor activities, a 50/50 raffle and much more,” said Danielle Nystrom, manager. “We are also planning to have a baggo tournament outside in the street!”
Bands currently scheduled to perform include “Happy Little Accidents”, “Whiskey Belles” and “Them Coullee Boys”.
“The fun will begin at 11:00 a.m. and the final band plays until 9:00 p.m,” said Nystrom. “There will be multiple activities going on throughout the entire day, so no matter when you stop by, you’ll find enjoyment.”
Also new this year, all proceeds from the event are being donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Wood County.
“We are hoping to raise as much money possible to help them fund the resources they need, as well as help spread the word about this amazing organization and the impact it is making on the youth of our community,” said Nystrom.
With no admission fee, Brew Pub’s Oktoberfest is an affordable and Über-fun way to celebrate Wisconsin’s German heritage.
“It’s a fun, family-friendly event that only happens once a year,” said Nystrom. “I would encourage people to attend this year especially because we are raising funds to support a local non-profit!”
