Kids will get the chance to explore heavy machinery and participate in fun activities at the Kiwanis Enormous Equipment Playground (KEEP) on Oct. 5. The Kiwanis Club is hosting the event for kids of all ages at the Marshfield fairgrounds from 10-4 p.m.
“I strongly encourage parents with young children ages 2-7 to come, and it’s a great day for grandparents to bring their grandchildren out!” said Donna Martin, Kiwanis member. “They are going to be able to explore large equipment, vehicles unique to trades like garbage trucks, school buses, concrete trucks…”
Besides being able to hop in the driver’s seat, Kids can can also sift for “gold,” mix concrete to make their own stepping stone, and paint rocks. A balloon artist will be present from 11-3 p.m. and concessions are available inside the expo building. The Marshfield police and fire departments are also expected to be at the event.
As a service group dedicated making children’s lives better, the Kiwanis’ annual KEEP event fits right in with its mission.
“This event fits in perfectly with that because not only do we give the children a great, fun-filled day to explore the equipment, but the proceeds we return to the community back to children’s services,” said Martin.
The event will take place rain or shine. Cost of admission is $3 for children ages 1-12 and $5 for ages 13 and older. Wearing tennis shoes is advised along with weather-appropriate clothing. KEEP is also drop-off for winter clothes including gently used coats, hats, mittens, and scarves.
