Elegant Mother and Son Event Returns for Mother’s Day

Theme is “An Evening in Paris”

Sons can treat their mothers to an elegant evening of food and socializing the evening before Mother’s Day at “An Evening in Paris.”

“It’s a special night for moms to enjoy themselves,” said organizer Patty Hasenbank. “If you think about it, how many times do you go and take your mom out?”

Last year’s inaugural event was red carpet-style and drew ninety-five people to Hotel Marshfield. Based on the concept of successful father/daughter events, it created an opportunity for mothers to go out in the evening during Mother’s Day weekend.

“It was a huge hit,” said Hasenbank. “So many moms came up to me later and said what a wonderful evening they had.” She hopes to draw 150 attendees this year, and proceeds from the event benefit the Hannah Center, a local non-profit which helps women in crisis.

The event is not limited to just mothers and sons, but can be grandmothers/grandsons, stepmother/stepson, aunt/nephew. “It’s for any special woman in your life that you’d like to take out for a special evening,” she said. Due to the elegance of the evening, the minimum age to attend is about six years or older.

Free professional pictures will be taken by Jennifer Jacobson Photography, and mothers will get to take the photo home the same night to show off the next day. A sit-down dinner will feature rosemary roasted chicken breast, buttery garlic chive mashed potatoes, and California Blend vegetables.

“I make sure that it’s always comfort food,” said Hasenbank.

The event will take place at Hotel Marshfield from 5:30-9 p.m. on Saturday, May 12, the day before Mother’s Day. Social hour will come first with a sit-down dinner at about 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 per person and can be purchased at the Hannah Center or the Century 21 Gold Key Realty office on Central.

“There will be some surprises,” she said. “It’s going to be a very elegant, beautiful event.”
