Dairyfest 2019 Preview – Breakfast, Parade, and More

Dairyfest returns May 31-June 2 with activities all weekend long to kick off June Dairy Month. Start out with the Mayor’s Breakfast and end by cheering on the Chaparrals. This year, Wenzel Family Plaza will serve as the new location for a variety of Saturday activities and food options, and is in walking distance of the parade route.

Mayor’s Breakfast, 5:30-9:30am

Tickets are $7, 6 and under are free
• Celebrating the 38th year of Dairyfest, the 38th person in line will be rewarded with tickets to the Wisconsin Dells, donated by WDLB/WOSQ Radio
• Music entertainment provided by The Candi Shop from 5:30-9:30am
• Live radio broadcast from 5:30-9:30am sponsored by WDLB Radio
• Make your own smoothie while peddling a stationary bike, which will be provided by Sports Den
• Stop by the birthing cow simulator, sponsored by Mid-State Technical College
• Door prizes will be given out, donated by Marshfield area businesses
• All attendees receive a souvenir coffee mug
• Throughout the morning MACCI’s Agri-Business Committee will be announcing outstanding Ag seniors, Century Farmer and 2019 Friend of Ag recognitions. Stop by their table as you exit the breakfast hall

On the Moo-ve was developed in response to the rising demand by consumers to learn how dairy farmers care for their cattle and why dairy foods are a critical component of a healthy, balanced diet. On the Moo-ve will feature a life-size fiberglass cow that can be “milked” and two interactive displays. Come quiz your dairy knowledge!

Help stock the pantries and get creative with this community activity. Get involved by hosting a canned goods drive in your business, church, family or wherever! Then come down and create a sculpture from those canned goods. Prizes will be awarded; raffle baskets can be won- all to help the less fortunate. Sponsored by Marshfield Area United Way and a Leadership Marshfield project group Class of 2019.

The Downtown Friday Nights concert series, Dangerfest Concert Productions and Chestnut Center for the Arts are teaming up to bring a varied state of live and local music to Dairyfest’s afternoon festivities that will be held at Wenzel Family Plaza. Marshfield’s own Aaron Lee Kaplan will kick things off with his distinct brand of acoustic blues material, followed by the country sounds of Stevens Point’s Desperate Ottos. Join us as we rock into the early evening with the groovy sounds of Wausau’s Bourbon House. This event will be free!

Wildwood Zoo Upper Pond

Lion’s Fishing Contest, 8am-4pm at Wildwood Park Upper Pond
$1 registration fee
Fishing contest for kids 12 years and older. Every child receives a prize that was donated by local businesses! There will also be a chance to earn a grand prize! Prizes include rods, toys, food coupons, fishing tackle and other items. Some rods and reels will be available, but you are encouraged to bring your own. Bait will be supplies. Sponsored by Marshfield Lions Club.

North Wood County Historical Society’s 40th Annual Pie and Ice Cream Social, Upham Mansion
212 West 3rd Street, 10am-3pm
Come join them for their 40th Annual Pie and Ice Cream Social. Enjoy ice cream and homemade pies, just like Grandma used to make. There will be a variety of kids’ games, live music and over 24 baskets to be raffled off to lucky winners. You can take a stroll through the Heritage Rose Garden or tour Governor William Upham’s home. There is no cost to tour; however, donations are always appreciated.

Parade, 11:00am
Dairyfest… “Dairy Proud” will be presented as 70+ units take part in this year’s Dairyfest parade. This year’s 2019 Parade Marshal is Advanced Disposal who will lead the parade. Advanced Disposal has been a strong community partner for many years and through various events always comes through with the clean-up. Our parade partners, Marshfield Clinic Health System, will distribute buckets along the route so “kiddos” can collect all the goodies handed out. Don’t miss local and area high school bands perform along the parade route. The units will travel south on Central Avenue, turning east on 14th Street, and south on Cherry Street, ending just inside the fairgrounds. Join us at the Wenzel Family Plaza, your one-stop destination for a full afternoon of activities.

Outdoor Dairyfest Beer Garden at Nutz Deep II, Marshfield, 1pm-12am

Come enjoy an outdoor beer garden during Dairyfest featuring live music, raffles, food, beer and more. Beer garden open all day. Boom Box will be performing from 7:00-midnight. There is no admission charge. Must be over 21 to enter! A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Marshfield Young Professionals. For more information, call 715-387-2597 to speak to a manager. 12th Annual Arby’s Dairyfest Fling Disc Golf Tournament, 8am
Braem Park Disc Golf Course, Marshfield & North Park Disc Golf Course, Pittsville
On-site registration/check-in from 8:00-9:00am at Braem Park Shelter First Round: Pros play North Park Pro Tees and AMs & Rec play Braem. Enjoy lunch from Arby’s (one for each paid player delivered to the Braem Shelter). Second Round: Pros play Braem and AMs & Rec play North Park Reg Tees.
