Classic Car Show Part of 50’s-Style Deals
It’s time to break out the poodle skirts.
Dairy Queen is heading “Back to the 50’s” July 18-20 with old-fashioned prices on favorite treats including french fries, hot dogs, small cones, rootbeer floats, misty slush, 6” mini-cakes, and of course, the Dilly Bar, which debuted in 1955.
The last 50’s event Dairy Queen hosted was in 2016 and drew people far and wide. “The response was enormous,” said manager Laura Cooper. “We had so much fun seeing all of the creativity of our customers, the young people, and all the smiles we encountered.”
The north Dairy Queen location and its employees will transform for the occasion. Expect to hear some 50’s tunes and spot a few retro hairstyles. “The most magical part is our staff,” said Cooper. “They wear authentic poodle skirts, scarves and period hair and makeup for the event. Our young men have the slicked back hair, white t-shirts and blue jeans. It’s truly a unique experience!”
She encourages customers to dress up and join the fun. Additionally, register at the front counter for a chance to win prizes such as gift cards, combo meal vouchers, free ice cream cakes, beach towels, camping chairs, a Huge Jenga game, Tabletop torches.
On Friday night from 4-8 p.m., those with classic cars from the 50s, 60s, or 70s have the
chance to show them off at the Classic Car Show and get awarded a free combo meal.
“It’s all about having fun with our community,” Cooper said.
Back to the 50’s Days will take place at the north Dairy Queen location at 803 N Central Ave. With Miracle Treat Day right around the corner on August 2nd benefiting Children’s Miracle Network, customers can pick up pre-order forms to either purchase blizzards on the day or for up to one year from purchase date. For every blizzard purchased, $1 will be donated to local children.
