Cornhole Championships Return to Marshfield

American Cornhole Organization To Host Championship in Marshfield

The American Cornhole Organization (ACO) brings their championship event to Marshfield on June 2nd and 3rd at the Marshfield Fairgrounds. As part of Dairy Fest weekend, the ACO is a family friendly event that is geared towards teens and young adults.

Cornhole is a bean bag toss game which vies competitors against each other in an effort to toss the highest number of bags of corn or beans into the opposite hole on a raised board. A toss in the hole awards three points, while a landing on the board scores one. The winner is the first person or team to reach 21. This popular yard game attracts people that want to have some fun to those that seriously compete.

Marshfield is no stranger to the ACO as events have been held here in the past. Anywhere from 80 to 100 people have competed each year. The Marshfield Convention and Visitor Bureau (CVB) sponsor the tournament and welcomes it as an annual event for anyone wanting to give it a try.

“Cornhole is a sport anyone can play. We have had competitors from ages 16 – 80 years old. There is a juniors division hosted at 6pm on June 2nd at the Fairgrounds. Adults 21+ play in an area with a beer garden, juniors have a separate section of courts,” the CVB, directed by Matt McLean, stated.

The early bird sign-up fee is $20 if purchased before June 1, 2017 and can be paid online at http://americancornhole.com/event-tickets/. Walk-ins are welcome for a $30 playing price.

Over $1000 in cash and prizes are awarded. Participation can be handled as a single player or as a duo. Only residents of Wisconsin are eligible to play, however, it is not necessary to be a member of the ACO. A photo ID is required to prove residency.

Each player will be guaranteed 2 games played in the singles and 2 games in the doubles. The final tournament will be decided the day of the event based on participation.
Marshfield Dairy Fest honors the community and dairy industry. Whether as an observer or active participant, the ACO brings fun and excitement to an already festive weekend.
