Cooking with Ruth Episode 104: Tortilla Chips

Latest “Cooking With Ruth” Episode Features Make-Your-Own Tortilla Chips

In the latest episode of Cooking with Ruth, Ruth and Gary make homemade tortilla chips. This simple recipe involves tortillas, seasoning, and a really easy baking process.

“Why do we make them when you can just go buy a great big bag?” asked Ruth. “Well, you can make many flavors, and you can just do something fun and different!”

After purchasing different tortillas for various catering jobs, Ruth and Gary had a lot of leftovers. Not a huge fan of the white tortillas, they decided to try using them to make their own chips! Though they’ve created different variations and flavors of the recipe, the episode features spicy cumin and chili powder chips.

“You can add as much chili powder and cumin as you’d like,” said Ruth. “Obviously the more you add, the spicier it’s going to be.”

Chips are baked for a short amount of time, rotated, and baked again before being ready to serve.

“You can kind of decide how brown you want them,” said Ruth, reinforcing the flexibility of the recipe. Serve finished chips with homemade guacamole (click here for Ruth’s recipe) or salsa.

Until next time, happy cooking!
