A Crazy Game of Poker at The Sports Den
The Sports Den is hosting this family-friendly event that sees participants hopping on their bikes and gathering a hopefully winning poker hand from downtown businesses. Bring your bike, a helmet, and the entire family to participate! There will be concessions at The Sports Den benefiting Marshfield school’s Mountain Bike Club. The winner of the best hand will take home a pot worth hundreds of dollars in certificates to area businesses. Weekend Blowout at Taqueria el Sol
Last year, the festivities at the authentic Mexican restaurant drew lines around the block! This year, Taqueria el Sol is starting its Cinco de Mayo celebration on Friday, May 4 and debuting a new menu on Saturday. Part of the proceeds will benefit the ODC. Come out for Latin and Mariachi live music by international singer Clementina, a beer tent, live radio show, and drink specials. 10th Birthday Party at Wildwood Zoo
Cougars Thunder and Star turned 10 on May 1. The public is welcome to a Cinco de Mayo-themed birthday party from 10-11 a.m. at the zoo to celebrate. Zookeepers will be doing enrichment with the cougars and providing props for fun photos. Donations are welcome for the cougar’s future new exhibit. Other gifts that you may bring include spices, newspaper, boomer balls, phonebooks, pvc piping, or jolly balls.
Kentucky Derby and Fiesta at Nutz Deep II
Watch the Kentucky Derby while enjoying a traditional derby day cocktails and southern ritual, including Mint Julip with Kentucky bourbon. Stay for the Cinco de Mayo fiesta. Get a free t-shirt to commemorate by purchasing two Coronas. There will be $3 Jose shots, $3.50 Dos Equis and more!
