The Chestnut Center for the Arts will have their third annual Signature Fundraiser, Lift Up the Arts, on Oct. 14 from 6-11 p.m., with this year’s theme being “Rockin’ the Arts,” a ‘50s celebration.

“It’s our major signature fundraiser for the center,” said Adam Smrcka, Executive Director. “It really provides support and funding for all the programming that we do.”

The event will have ‘50s-style comfort food by Blue Heron Brewpub, full cash bar, silent and live auctions, and live music by the String Cheese Band.

“It’s a really fun event.” said Smrcka. “It’s still relatively new,”

There’s a lot of great items on the auction block this year. There will be 100 silent auction items and an exciting live auction lineup. The three trip destinations include a carriage ride through historic Charleston, South Carolina, a wine country spa trip to Sonoma, California, and a five-day beach resort trip to the U.S Virgin Islands.

Other live auction items include original paintings by local artists Becca Korth and Carmen Duran, a private three-hour performance by Marshfield singer/songwriter joe. g, a Mongolian dinner party for eight, and two tickets to the Green Bay Packers  vs. Detroit Lions game. There are other items that will kept a surprise until the fundraiser.

While Lift Up the Arts funds the center’s programming, a major campaign will be kicking off at the event to raise money for a wheelchair lift, automatic doors, and other work that will all make the building more accessible to everyone. Smrcka noted that the improvements will especially benefit people who have mobility issues, and also help when moving equipment. The fundraising goal is $100,000.

The Center is thankful to all of their sponsors and the volunteers that keep it running. “The event really couldn’t operate without them,” Smrcka said. The only nonprofit arts organization in Marshfield, the Chestnut Center sees art as being a part of the fabric of the community, to which their programming contributes.

Tickets are $40 per person and 100 are available. “It’s a great value for couples that are looking to get out on the town,” said Smrcka, adding that since it’s Homecoming weekend, parents could drop off their kids and then head over for a fun night of their own.
