Chestnut Center – We Banjo 3

No luck of the Irish is needed to enjoy awesome music right here in Marshfield. If looking to enjoy music that is new, fresh, and daring, the search is over. We Banjo 3, a band whose sound is an invigorating blend of Irish and Americana banjo music, will be performing at Chestnut Center for the Arts on Thursday, August 11.

“We Banjo 3 is probably in my opinion our most exciting group,” said Adam Smrcka, Executive Director at the Chestnut Center. “They are very lively and have an incredible stage presence.”

Hailing from Galway, Ireland, the band is composed of two sets of brothers: Enda and Fergal Scahill and Martin and David Howley, and frequent substitute Garry O’Meara. The award-winning quartet combines Irish Music with Old-Time Americana and Bluegrass influences to create a sound that is unlike any other band, something they call “Celt Grass.”

“It’s contemporary, it’s not like traditional Irish foot dancing,” added Smrcka. They are exciting and it’s impossible not to stomp your foot or nod to the music.”

We Banjo 3, who currently is embarking on a national tour to promote their fourth album String Theory, has visited Chestnut Center nearly every year for the past 4-5 years.

“They love the setting, love the sound,” said Smrcka. “They always comment on the sound of the concert hall.”

Featuring banjo, fiddle, mandolin, guitar, vocals, and percussion, We Banjo 3 evokes creativity, passion, and sensitivity.

“It’s just an amazing concert,” said Smrcka.“It’ll be a nice night of entertainment. I would definitely not miss them. If there is one concert you don’t want to miss, it’s this one.”

Tickets are $18 in advance and can be pre-ordered today by calling 715-389-8999 ($20 at the door). Performance starts at 7:30pm. Refreshments will be available.

Smrcka added that concerts like this are made possible through the Chestnut Center’s annual campaign. Donations can be made online, and all are invited to attend their annual fundraiser “Lift Up The Arts” on September 17.
