Centenarian Mabel Schreindl Turns 101

Mabel Schreindl celebrated her 101st birthday on Nov. 11.

A Marshfield resident is celebrating a special milestone today.

Mabel Schreindl turned 101 on November 11. To commemorate the occasion, her family put up a billboard on Oak Ave. with her picture and, appropriately, a few Dalmatians. The billboard also includes a photo of a Dalmatian named Boo that was once owned by Mabel’s late daughter, Darlene.

Despite her age, Mabel still lives independently by the Ronald McDonald House in the same home she raised her four sons and two daughters in with her husband Clarence, who passed in 2004, and near the hospital where she made her career. A few of her children still live around town, and she also has numerous grandchildren and a few great-grandchildren who live out of state in Minnesota, Michigan, and Oregon.

To celebrate the 101st birthday, Mabel’s family took her out to lunch and drove over to surprise her with the billboard.

Mabel isn’t the only member of her family to live to a long age. To commemorate her milestone 100th birthday last year, the family held a big party in August so her sisters, who are in their 90s, could attend the celebration. Another get-together was held to mark the new centenarian on her birthday.
