Celebrate Marshfield’s Past During Historic Preservation Month

May is Historic Preservation Month, and local history groups are offering a wide range of free programs to recognize the occasion.

On Monday, May 6, learn more about the history of Wood County Parks the major projects that have taken place over the years. Presenter Chad Schooley, Director of Wood County Parks and Forestry Department, will present at the library at 6:30 p.m. 

Cemetery tours return later in the month on Friday, May 24 from 8:30-11 and 12-2:30 at the Hillside Cemetery. The public can join local school children to tour the cemetery and learn more about Marshfield’s past from the enthusiasts dressed up as the citizens who lived in those times.

Events are coordinated by the Historic Preservation Committee, Main Street Marshfield, Marshfield Convention and Visitors Bureau, The Marshfield Area Geneology Group, the Marshfield Historic Preservation Association, the Everett Roehl Marshfield Public Library, the North Wood County Historical Society, Chestnut Center for the Arts, and the Alliance for a Greener Marshfield.
