Raffles Include Autographed Packers Football
A breakfast buffet benefitting area Girl Scouts is coming to Hotel Marshfield Sunday, March 18 from 8:30-11:30 a.m.. The hearty menu includes scrambled eggs, sausage links, pancakes, baked goods, coffee, orange juice, and milk.
“The funds are used for area programming and events and supplies,” said Diane Hellmann-Sainterme, Assistant Troop Leader, Troop 6181. “Things like our badge buster events, Girl Scout week, spring campout, the MAGS Gala/bridging event, Holiday and Dairy Fest parades, Powderpuff Derby, Raingutter Regatta, and Cookie Rally.”
The Marshfield Area Girl Scouts includes girls from Auburndale and Spencer. Altogether, there are 242 participants and 26 troops in the area.
Raffles at the event will include an autographed Packers football, Mother’s Day gift basket, sporting gear basket, Badger basket with signed Barry Alvarez and Bo Ryan photos, autographed Badger Volleyball, and more. The drawing will be at 11 a.m.
Tickets may be purchased at MACCI for $8 or from a Girl Scout. For children six and under, tickets are available for $5 at the door.
While the Girl Scouts are known for their cookie sales, the troops do plenty of other activities throughout the year that attendees will learn more about at the breakfast with special display boards.
“The girls participate in service projects throughout the year,” said Hellmann-Sainterme. “Make a Difference Day, Holiday Box project (create a holiday meal in a box and donate to a food pantry), Girl Scout Week First Baby (gifts donated for the first girl born during Girl Scout week – but there is usually enough donated that we have gifts for every girl born that week), Memorial Day Flag Placement and Parade, Empty Bowls, Rotary Lights, Honor Flight, Feed my Starving Children, etc.”
Adult volunteers are always needed whether or not a daughter is in Girl Scouts. “If you are retired or an empty nester with time on your hands, and you like having fun and making a difference in a young girls life, we would love to have you,” she said.
