Artists “Stitched Together” at New Visions Gallery

Fiber Art Exhibit: “Stitched Together” Next on New Visions’ Calendar

A fiber arts exhibit titled “Stitched Together” will be at New Visions Gallery from Sept. 11 through Oct. 27.

Stitched Together is a new exhibit of contemporary fiber art work on tour through 2018 by Illinois and Wisconsin regional members of Studio Art Quilt Associates.

The exhibit consists of 30 art quilts by 30 artists and was juried by Illinois fiber artist Sharon L. Wright. The show features contemporary art quilts with wide variations in artistic interpretation, style, and technique. Work by juror Sharon Wright and co-curators Pat Kroth and Cynthia Wenslow also will be included.

Members of Midwest Studio Art Quilt Associates of Illinois/Wisconsin employ a variety of innovative materials and techniques in the creation of fiber art with a contemporary edge. Some members have published books about their artistic processes and are in demand as teachers and lecturers. Many exhibit their work in juried group and solo exhibitions nationally and internationally.

The group discussed their inspiration for the exhibit: “The length of the SAQA IL-WI region is over 800 miles, from northern Wisconsin to southern Illinois. That area spans many miles of lakes, forests, farmlands, cities, towns, open sky and skyline. What inspires us? What makes us different? Similar? Our common passion for fiber art keeps us Stitched Together.”

School and community group tours are available for this exhibit. Interested parties should contact New Visions Gallery to schedule a date and time.
