EAA Chapter 992 will host its annual plane fly-in and pancake breakfast this Sunday, July 17 at Marshfield Municipal Airport (KMFI). Join them for pancakes, airplanes, and fun! Rides are available from Duffy’s Aircraft and the Marshfield Airport Crew. The all-you-can-eat breakfast will be served from 8:00am-Noon, rain or shine. This annual pancake breakfast is a way raises funds for the EAA’s scholarship program, and aims to increase the visibility of Marshfield Municipal Airport in the community.
“I enjoy this event because it offers an opportunity for the community to learn about our airport and aviation,” said Christopher Owens, President of EAA Chapter 992.
Chartered in 1992, EAA Chapter 992 is made up of a group of dedicated men and women, along with their families, from communities surrounding Marshfield and Medford, WI. Building and flying aircraft, flying Young Eagles, serving pancakes and chili, and restoring and maintaining EAA’s collection of classic aircraft are a few of the events that they enjoy every year.
“There are many misconceptions about aircraft and aviation, and many people think it’s a ‘rich-man’s game’,” added Owens. “There are plenty of opportunities to begin flying for fun, and they are as affordable as other forms of recreational transportation, like snowmobiles and ATVs. Many of the aircraft that come to our event are built by those who are flying them!”
Owens encourages everyone to enjoy a delicious breakfast and learn more about aviation.
“If you would like to learn more about aviation, whether it’s flying one of many certificated aircraft or learning about building your own, or if you just like being around airplanes and airports, we have something for you at this event!” he said. “And the pancakes are pretty darn good, too!”
