The 9th Annual Altrusa Holiday Home tour returns Dec. 6 & 7 with the chance to go inside four Marshfield homes decked out for the season.
Homes can be visited at leisure and toured in any order.
“All homes are located within easy driving distance and can be easily located by following our Altrusa Tour Of Homes signs and ‘Featured Home’ signs in the yard,” said Darlene Krake, event co-chair. “All are quite beautiful and unique in architecture and decor. We purposely do not include a lot of detail to enhance the holiday experience when first arriving at the home.”
The event aims to enhance a winter weekend full of other festive events, including the Rotary Winter Wonderland lights at Wildwood Zoo and the North Wood County Historical Society Open House at Upham Mansion.
“We have been told by many people how much they look forward to seeing the homes for new ideas and a fun time spent with family and friends,” Krake said. “And yes — we have a number of men who also enjoy the tours!”
The event is an important fundraiser for Altrusa Club of Marshfield.
“This is our ninth annual tour and is our major fundraiser for the year that helps fund the several thousand dollars needed to support our many service projects,” Krake said. “We do make a difference in our surrounding communities as well as Marshfield.”
Causes which Altrusa supports include special needs scholarships, Family Resource Center of Marshfield, Youth Net, and numerous others. Approximately half of proceeds will benefit literacy programs at the Everett Roehl Marshfield Public Library.
Tickets are $10 in advance from the Marshfield library and MACCI until Dec. 5. They can also be purchased for $15 on the day of the event at each featured home.
The tour will take place Friday, Dec. 6 from 4-8 p.m. or Saturday, Dec. 7 from 10-2 p.m. Learn more about the Altrusa Club at its Facebook page.
